Sept 2k18: Church Stuff

Nothing says 'September' more than apple-picking, am I right? Well, really I have no idea because I've never done it BUT the boys enjoyed themselves helping out one evening at the church orchard!
Lovely late summer weather = biking to church! Long skirt tied up, shorts underneath - finally figured out all the tricks ;).

Solo temple trip:
Unfortunately these got more and more rare as I started subbing a lot.

Ahhh I love little moments at church that just need to be documented. Such as...

Sister Curtis and Carma matching with wild hair accessories! For Grace it was part of a singing time activity, for Carma... it was just another Sunday haha.

Jack dabbled in church choir for a bit, generally standing by me in the soprano section. Could he be any cuter though??

Carma doing a bit o' scripture studying:

Bishop Merritt became a great-grandpa and boyyyy oh boyyyy is he in his element with this sweet baby girl:

Jackers giving a talk in primary. I just can't handle his adorableness.

Sometimes I illegally try to sublet bulletin boards in the church building because I'm a slacker at my calling:

Don't worry, I had these ready to go the following week :).

Another part of my calling is creating the weekly program:

Okay probably my favorite part was creating a new word search each week. I generally opted for lyrics from a hymn we were singing, but this particular day this quote really spoke to me.

Our favorite brand new 12 year old was ordained a Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood, meaning he's ready and willing to take on new responsibilities to be of service. Pretty special day, with Chuck ordaining him and both grandpas standing in as well.

Grandpa Braden and his oldest grandson!

Random selfie of me and Chuck, just because.

Grandma Pam and Clyde, who was named after her dad. Pretty cute duo.

Is this picture blurry? Or are you just caught up in what a special day it was and maybe you're blinking back some tears?

Grandpa and Grandma Izatt came to town for the weekend to be with Clyde.

Quick selfie with my mama.

Four Izatt kids and a bonus! Caden came to church with us - we even made him bike haha.

Ummm not really sure what's happening here. My children might have attention-needing issues...

Another special aspect of turning 12 and receiving the Priesthood was being able to go the temple for the first time:

We took in family names and Chuck baptized Clyde for all the guys and... me... for the girls. I legit haven't done temple baptisms in like 15 years so I was a little rusty. Chuck didn't miss a beat or drop me though!

I say it all the time - the temple is one of my favorite places. I always feel better walking out than I did walking in. Each visit I'm reminded that I'm strong and capable and that Heavenly Father has work for me to do, and that the Savior will help me at every turn.

Aaaand on the way home we stopped at Walmart for bread and milk so that Clyde would get the complete 'temple date night' experience haha.

And in conclusion, here are a few lovely reminders/thoughts/inspiration from Richard Ostler, a guy whose discipleship, eloquence, and efforts I really respect and admire:

Chuck and I were able to hear him speak this month as well and it was pretty awesome. I love when good people speak up and inspire those around them to be better.
