Hiawatha bike trail has always been on our list of things to do, so we made a quick camping trip to northern Idaho and it was so, so wonderful!
Few items to note:
* we parked at the top, biked down, rode the shuttle back up, and then biked the last mile through the long tunnel again back to the parking lot.
* Carma was tiiiiired by the end. So was Will.
* we stopped a lot for snacks, to wait for everyone to get out of a tunnel, to read the historical markers, to take pictures, to admire the views.
* tunnels were cold, sweatshirts went on... and off... and on... and off
* RIP to Clyde's white shirt - he rode hard and fast in the wet tunnels so he got the muddiest, but the rest of us got some
* I was on a cruiser... it was fine. When we went again last summer I switched to a mountain bike and liked it more.
* We had to wait at the bottom for a shuttle for quite a while - we should have gotten to the top and left sooner than we did (ie 9 or 10 instead of 12ish).
We loved it! Here are a million caption-less photos:
