November 2k18 Church Stuff

Let's be honest: a majority of November was centered on one specific church-related event. Most of October was focused on it too, haha. The ward congregations in our area take turns hosting a really awesome Thanksgiving feast for the senior members of our stake, and this year it was our ward's turn. And as first counselor in the Bishopric, Chuck was made the point man. Lucky!

A good deal of the work was done beforehand - we received detailed notes from the couple who had headed it up the year before, and that was lifesaving. Chuck was in contact with the high counselor over the dinner, which was awesome when we ran into questions about numbers and options and budgets. We made many a trip to whatever it is that Cash and Carry calls itself now, Costco, Winco, etc. Here we are heading to the church circa 8am to get started that day:

There may have been a slight panic when we realized that the rest of our Bishopric, our youth, and youth leaders wouldn't be available that day to help us cook and serve - they lucked out and were at a special conference in Boise with John Bytheway, Hank Smith, and Meg Johnson. As always though, when Chuck sounded the call for help SO many ward members jumped in to help and we were fully staffed (including Lee - I loved watching the brothers work together and coordinate things in the kitchen!)

I thought the table settings were so cute (the stake Relief Society lent us their fall decor) and it was fun to watch as people started to come in and fill seats!

We had awesome ushers, aka kids from the oldest primary class. Will loved opening the door for Grandma Pam!

And then it was time! Our assembly line was efficient and amazing and plates were loaded up and then taken out to the tables... then boxes were made up for wards to take to their members who weren't able to make it to the church.
At one point there were maybe seven of us trying to do math and figure out how many slices of pie we needed.... there was a lot of laughing ;).

It was such nice timing - our new Stake Presidency had just been in about a month, so they came as our speakers and also went through and greeted everyone as they ate.

Chuck put so much into the prep and execution of this event and I’m SO glad it went well and SO glad it’s over and SO grateful for everyone who helped; literally couldn’t have done it without everyone who showed up😅😍. [Special shout out to Lee, who isn’t even in our ward and put in like six hours, including carving turkeys like a champ 💪🏼]. Also, can I blame my current sleepiness on tryptophan if I bypassed the turkey but ate two pieces of pumpkin pie? 🤔🥧😴

I watched two little girls one evening for a new couple in our ward and since they live close, I walked over to their house. I realized this was a total throwback to my babysitting days haha!

Carma June wearing my FAVORITE dress from when I was little - made of course by my grandma Carma!

Carma had a talk in primary one Sunday and selected Clyde as her designated helper - pretty high honor.

Ha - sometimes my Relief Society lessons are a little unorthodox, ie this one where I was trying to use a canvas and paint for an object lesson. It didn't get finished but sweet Sister Marsh stayed after and helped Jack and Carma finish layering the paint on!

Ohhh Cookie Wednesdays at Janell's house... complete with crazy Izatt kids body surfing down the stairs. Janell is a saint!

If we needed more proof of her sainthood - she directs our ward choir! I took this picture of Clyde and a cookie to recruit more vocalists to our cause. Getting ready to sing the Sunday before Christmas always encourages a 'the more, the merrier!!' semi-frantic approach to enlisting more singers haha.

October 2k18: all the things

There's a chance I get slightly obsessed with our front tree in autumn - sooo pretty! Also pretty is the leaf art that a child brought home from school. I feel like it was Carma?

Also obsessed with these throwback pictures of Will and Jack playing in the leaves with Jaxen and Nathan Swenson; I found these in the downloads folder on my computer and I can't believe I've left them there overlooked for so long! This should have been fall 2013 - so I bet Shelly was watching the boys while I had a dr appt listening to a cute Carma Junie heartbeat. Cutest group of boys!!

Jackers played basketball through the rec center and it was, as always, adorable. He generally opted for the 'hot potato' approach (a family favorite in competitive sports - get rid of the ball as quickly as you get it haha) and had such a great time:

His coach was awesome and really helped encourage him and boost his confidence.

Cheering section! Carma and I were the diehard fans at almost every practice and game and Jack especially loved with Dad and Clyde and Will could make it too:

Ah, right towards the end of Jack's dabbing career. Those blue eyes kill anyone else? Just me?

We got to have some Kirkendall girls over one day, so I banished them and Will and Jack into the playroom with the legos and heard nary a complaint the whole time. I love them.

Emily watched Carma for me one day for a bit and Carma was beyond in heaven with two fairy godmothers to get her dressed and made-up for the ball!

Chuck and I buy a lottery ticket approximately once every ten years but DON'T WORRY, we have some pretty solid plans for if we ever win haha:

I honestly can't remember why Will wrote this cute note to me after I subbed in his classroom - I think it was something about him wanting to put it in the mailbox anonymously but somehow I figured out it was him ;).

Holla.

Me: “Carma, I think you put too much lipstick on.” Carma: “I didn’t.”

Yep:

We had a day (or two?) off school this month, so being the FUN mom that I am... we did flu shots and haircuts! (the wrestling by the car was obviously instigated by Clyde though). Flu shots are especially important for kids who are so unafraid of germs that they all take a lick of each other's suckers on the way out of the doctor's office - even if they have the same flavor?! Goobers.

I think this was another day off from school? Grace was heading to the aquarium with her chillens and bravely took Jack and Carma along too. My kids had such a great time and I love that Grace knew to text me pictures afterwards haha!

Random cute Carma in some random Carma outfits ;).

Pretty much died when I showed up to girls night at Em's and these notes were on the front door, courtesy of my sweetheart girlies Bailey and Alayna. We might have broken rules 1, 2, and 4 laughing at how cute this whole set-up was.. especially since it was completely unbeknownst to Emily haha. Also, screenshot of Marco Polo because it's the best for keeping us all in touch and following along with Nicole building a house... in hazmat gear...

When you try to take a sweet snuggling picture and your pre-teen realizes it and tries to bolt haha.

Random around the house pictures - Jack loves documenting the family college football feud:

Once again, his eyes! I might let him stay a BYU fan just because of how darling he looks in navy blue!

Halloween round up! Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, an army guy, and a policewoman:
Carma and I were cowgirls for workout class that morning, Clyde and Clark were the cutest pair of Harry Potters I've ever seen, and Pikachu Michael was awesome for keeping Jack and Carma happy and entertained throughout the trunk or treat.

Chuck missed out on dressing up since he had to work (I'm sure he was really disappointed ;) ) so I went as a 49er in his honor. Gold pants for the win!

oct 2k18: Farmstead with Grandpa!

We made it to another pumpkin patch with Grandpa Braden - the Farmstead! The kids' elementary school was having a fundraiser night there so we left our cute middle schooler to his homework and the rest of us headed out:

Classics - the bouncy pillow, as I call it...

the cow train...

Carma loved the spider web.

At first I attempted to pawn Carma off on Will and Jack to do the Monster thing...

but they came back out requesting an adult to accompany Carma... so I pawned her off on my dad instead! I went inside that crazy thing once and learned my lesson - never again!

Luckily grandpas are pretty susceptible to giving in to cute little granddaughters - such as when they are 'tired' of walking and want to hitch a ride!
First time trying the giant hamster wheels... pretty hilarious and only slightly alarming...

Model status, no big deal.

Speaking of which, trying to get a cute group picture is always a fun endeavor!

Good thing they're pretty cute...

We saved apple shooting for the end of the night - as always Grandpa encouraged taking lucky bites before loading the apple... Carma might have taken multiple lucky bites haha.

Carma and Jack signed the chalkboard:
Jack was so excited to hang out a bit with his good buddy Cruz! We joined the Park Ridge gang to watch a teacher kiss a pig :).

One more attempt at a photo op on our way out to the car - I think this is a throwback to Will's 'selfie pose' from a year or so ago??

BONUS CONTENT:
I'm terrible at saving pictures that my dad texts me in a timely manner... which means I stumbled upon these cute ones from our outing to Linder Farms in a different folder... which means I'll include them here! My dad's really great at taking pictures with me in them :).

Love these four yahoos! And they love fun fall adventures with Grandpa :).
