Attempted Athleticism in April

Carma is a BIG fan of working out. (Also lettuce. Two traits not inherited from me). Which is why she's the perfect ambassador to welcome all of us to this random recap of various sports-related activities during April:

Walk/run club returned, hooray! We all (including Grandma Pam) showed up when we could, usually splitting our laps between the boys' classes.

Will's favorite days may or may not have been when Chuck was able to be there:
Carma continued to love walk/run club! Riiiight up until she was VERY TIRED and needed a ride haha.

Naturally, re: modes of transportation our family continued to prefer bicycling over walking... or running ;).

Not quiiiite sure what was going on this particular day - like why Clyde's helmet was dangling from his handlebars instead of properly atop his cute head, or how Jack managed to hitch a ride in the trailer haha.

Ahhhh perfect spring day right here - sitting on the front porch watching my kids be yahoos with beautiful clouds in the sky!

Slight downside of bicycle ownership is maintenance - luckily Carma is a quick learner and competent apprentice and luckily craigslist yielded a cool bike stand. I was worried about that open space in the garage that had yet to be infiltrated with bikes or nerf guns or tools or camping gear. It seemed lonely ;).

Clyde made his debut as a middle school athlete when the tennis season started; yayyyy tennis! Clyde loved his coaches and teammates and we had fun making it to some of the matches to watch him play:
Jack and Carma (and Will) loved when the matches were at East Valley so they could run around in the grassy fields while we waited for Clyde to play!

We did some summer prep via swimming lessons at the rec center for the gang. I don't know what the pull is with that bench, but they end up sitting there every time... on the way in (even when we're running late) and the way out (even when they say they're cold). I just love the line-up of their crocs haha.

Jack's lesson was at a just earlier time slot than the others so he generally got the kiddie pool to himself and honestly, that was like the best thing for him. He splashed around and PUT HIS FACE IN THE WATER VOLUNTARILY so I can testify that prayers are answered ;). We were sooo proud of him and excited about his milestone.

Generally all three boys sitting riiiight next to each other in the back row is not the best idea (possibly a slight understatement) but when Clyde has Minecraft pulled up on his school laptop, everyone gets along swimmingly (see what I did there?)... minus Carma, who is somewhat distraught at being left out.

So this was clearly written in February but Chuck didn't stumble upon it in Will's backpack until April - a super cute 'teacher award' nomination written by Will about everyone's favorite P.E teacher:
Mr. Johnson has been as Park Ridge at least as long as we have and is one of the contributing factors to why we love our school so much. He works hard to develop a rapport with each of his students and creates a PE class environment that is safe and fun and rewarding. And of course, per Will, Mr. Johnson is both kind and strong.... because let's face it, it would be hard to learn with a weak gym teacher ;).
