september adventures with Grandpa

At the beginning of September we met up with my dad for a Saturday afternoon at the park and the Discovery Center and it was lovely!

We've really been liking Municipal Park in Boise for outings with Grandpa and this day was no exception. Lots of playing on the playground and then some target practice with Clyde's new Nerf gun and playing with helicopter toys that my dad always brings.

Then we wandered over to the Discovery Center! We divided and conquered a bit; Carma and Grandpa headed to the 'kids 4 and under' zone and I stayed out front with the boys to check out some old and new exhibits:
Clyde masterminded the design and recruited Will to help carry it out - such cute sweet boys!

Ohhh man, this one was cool. As you moved the sand and piled it and dug trenches, the lights changed to reflect its.... altitude? Right? So it was basically an interactive topographical map. All three boys loved it and we spent a lot of time here:
A lot of the exhibits were about sharks and we were there in time for a cute Jeopardy-style activity which the kids loved. The guy running it was super fun and I feel like Will ended up winning? He's pretty into sharks.

At the end of the month we met Grandpa over at Linder Farms for our traditional visit there with him, which the kids look forward to every year:

This year was momentous because I signed away all THREE boys' lives -

that's right, it was Jack's maiden voyage on the mechanical bull! He killed me with his completely straight posture and had fun despite his concentrated face ;).
Clyde's an old pro who generally stays on until it gets tricky and then catapults himself off haha.

Will's strategy for climbing on cracks me up, cutest boy!

Next up was the inflatables, of course.

Then we divided and conquered (common theme - I love going places with my dad; he's always so willing to help out with the kids). Carma and I hit up some of the preschooler-friendly attractions....
while Grandpa and the boys checked out the rock climbing wall, trampoline, and zipline!

Because grandparents are seemingly allergic to the word no, my dad got on the Orbiter with Will haha. After a lot of back and forth, they made it alllll the way around in a circle probably four or five times:

Clyde and Will also teamed up on it; I love the glimpses of fear and excitement on their faces.

Clyde also buddied up with Jackers for a go. Much to my relief they stayed closer to the ground...

While monitoring the boys on the Orbiter I glanced around and saw my dad getting hooked up on the trampoline harness - and then watched in amazement as he proceeded to do like twelve different forward and backward flips! Go Grandpa!

There was another inflatable over by the corn mazes - this one was more of an obstacle course and Carma was obsessed with it. We left her and Grandpa there for a bit...

while the boys and I headed for the corn maze and paintball adventure!

I opted for the Western scene and declined the option to have live targets...

All three boys veered towards the zombie side of the bus and were thrilled to take aim at the walking zombie, of course while minding the instructions to avoid head/nut shots haha.

Next we all met up at the corn pit area to bury some boys haha! First up was Clyde:

and then Will. And yes, we did find corn kernels in ears, socks, shirts, etc upon exiting ;).

It was approaching... aka way past... bedtime at this point, so we sent the kids on mad dashes to do a few last things. Jack and Carma did the swings and train ride:

Clyde and Will did the zipline a few more times and we all took a break for delicious mini donuts (thanks Dad!).

Totally fun and random coincidence - Clyde ran into a friend he'd recently made in choir at school, Katie. She made instant friends with Carma by helping her climb up the gigantic hay pile that led to the slide:

We grabbed a few little pumpkins and gourds on the way out and paused for a couple more photo ops - again reminding ourselves to take pictures earlier next time, before the kids are chilly and half asleep haha. We love this tradition of welcoming in autumn by going to Linder Farms with Grandpa! Happy Fall, y'all!
