Parent, Parent, Tot, Tot

Clyde took Parent-Tot swimming lessons last year and loved them. So naturally I signed both boys up this summer. We went for mid-July and I picked the latest time slot - 11:40 to 12:10. Sounds like just the time of day that a swim sounds real refreshing, right? Except it was randomly VERY chilly in mid-July and a couple of the days my sons thought they were being punished for something and spent most of the half hour crying. But it warmed up the second week and overall we all had a most excellent time.
Cute little swimmers :)
I got to be Will's buddy.
He was always a little hesitant to get in the water, but once the initial shock wore off he did really well.
I usually followed up something brutal like floating on his back with "1, 2, 3, up in the air!" to make him happy again.
Clyde did great in the water; he loved throwing toys and then 'swimming' to retrieve them. He also got better about letting Chuck dunk him all the way in the water.
We were all excited about the last day of class when they turned on the big blue water slide:
Once again, our Parent-Tot teacher offered to take each child on her lap down the slide. For some silly reason, however, Chuck thought Clyde was ready to tackle the water slide ON HIS OWN (even given his history with play equipment) and I gave my blessing - oops!
He was too little to stay sitting up the whole time, and came out a bit topsy-turvy.
The poor little lad did NOT enjoy it at all. So we let him take a break while Will took his turn (WITH the instructor, of course):
(I promise he liked it.)
And then Clyde decided he'd have another go at it, as long as he was safely on Michelle's lap.
Big success that time, thank goodness.
Next year Clyde will be old enough for the Preschool class, but Will and I will still be rocking Parent-Tot together - awesome :)

Must be something about that slide...Jazlyn decided she wanted to go down it by herself, got to the top and cried and didn't want to go down at all. I was at the bottom waiting for her and couldn't see what was going on. Finally I realized what was happening and had to go all the way up the slide, past the long line of impatient kids, and then come back down the stairs, the wrong way and again past all the impatient kids. That was a few summers ago, now she goes off the diving board. Clyde will get there.

Those are some pretty nice slide action photos. Were there any creepy McCreepster dads there who asked when they got their turn down the slide?
