Clyde loves him some letters. He also loves him some words. Which means he really loves him some books. Recently we pulled Green Eggs and Ham off his bookshelf for the first time and he fell in love. But it's a l-o-n-g book and I'm a neglectful mom, so instead of waiting around for me to read it to him multiple times a day, my three-and-a-half year old decided to read it by himself. And he can - the whole book.
(Side note: I thought his selection was particularly appropriate since A) this week was Dr. Seuss' birthday/Read Across America Day and B) Green Eggs and Ham was the first book I read all by myself, also around three.)
*Disclaimers: these videos were shot with the digital camera (not the camcorder) so the quality isn't spectacular, it was definitely bedtime, and Will was angling for my attention at the same time. Let's just say I won't be submitting them for Oscar contention in videography.
Video #1: You'll notice it ends rather abruptly, as I took the liberty of editing out the bit where Will throws his sippy cup across the kitchen . . . did I mention it was bedtime?
Video #2: So, it's hard to hear, but at the beginning of this one, Clyde is saying "Oh, this is a long one. I, I hope I can do it!" SOOOOO cute.
Video #3: I love how he slaps the ground to emphasize how funny it is; what a goof!!
Video #4: And finally, so that my sweet Will doesn't feel left out, here he is being cute on his new bed:
I love my boys!

So cute, and smart! I showed George and he can't wait for Clyde to come so they can read together. Of course he had to tell me that I never taught him to read and Clyde's mom and dad teach him to read every.day!
I can serve as a witness that he can read it and hasn't memorized it. I was amazed when he read it to me the first time. Just as I was when my sweet Jana pulled it out and read it to her uncle, I believe, without me knowing she could read.
What a smart boy!! :) He's so cute!
So Sam has been telling me that I need to call you so I can hear Clyde read. And I am very impressed. My nephew is a genius.
And when did you get a new bed? It looks super cute.
A genius! I am bringing home my Sam doll so he can read to me and Sam.
Brilliant! Maybe he can come over and tutor Jazlyn some time--her mom isn't doing quite as well with the reading instruction as his is!
What a smartie!
:)
And Will..... lovely giggle
What a good little reader! So smart. So his mannerisms are totally himself...but he sounds exactly like will! And will's peek a boo at the end is adorable.
