November 2k18: some school stuff

Feel free to settle in with some prettttty serious concentration - modeled here by Carma and Clyde - as we do a quick run through of school stuff last November:

Super cute report on eagles by our very own Jack Quinton Izatt - who coincidentally weighs more than the target eagle on earth!

This appears to be some sort of persuasive essay maybe? by Will, all about why pets should be allowed in school. Pretty compelling for a kid who hasn't even been able to convince his parents that pets should be allowed in their home haha.
Cute elementary school boys!

We headed in to Park Ridge one day for their fall conferences - Will sat me down and went through all of his work and subjects and grades and it was awesome!

Mrs. Keene is so good at helping her students grow and prepare for middle school - and doing so with love and compassion and joy.

Jack LOVED showing us around his classroom and I loved seeing it all. He opted for just a quick picture with mom instead of any with Miss Overcast or in his classroom, but we'll get there ;). Jack is such an enthusiastic and rule following student and we love seeing him in his element at school!

Ahhhh we love Park Ridge!

That afternoon Clyde and I went to East Valley for his parent-teacher conferences - he also declined being photographed with any of his teachers, weeeeeird. But I got lots of good reports about a seventh grader who is chatty and occasionally sassy and a natural leader who struggles turning in homework but is overall a delight to have in class... so we'll take it!

Love this note Clyde received from his social studies teacher.

Ohhhh and I subbed a bunch! Not as much; I took a few days off for a Utah trip with Chuck and then we had a week off for Thanksgiving, but I still fit in some cool stuff. I took a job at a 'leadership academy' alternative high school where students have to apply to get in and then primarily drive their own learning and achievement. It was way different but pretty fun! I also subbed at Columbia for the first time and enjoyed that a lot.

This made me laugh in a follow-up email from a teacher I subbed for - I debated asking what some of the things he heard about my style of subbing he didn't like, but figured I was better off not knowing haha.

I veered off my goal to mostly sub on Chuck's days off, which meant that Grandma Pam was recruited more and more to watch Carma Junie for us - much to Carma's delight as Grandma clearly treats her like royalty:
So cute!!

Regardless of how much fun she had with Dad or Grandma, Carma generally continued to adopt this face in the morning when it was time for me to leave, which was slightly sad and (let's be honest) pretty flattering haha.

Luckily that never lasted long and she was always super happy and well-adjusted when I picked her up from preschool!

 Okay, this hit hard haha:

Clyde and I ventured out to watch East Valley girls play at South, which was super fun! This cute girlie had given me a copy of their schedule to help encourage my attendance at a game or two :).

Super cute bingo night at the elementary school:
So grateful that my boys have such awesome friends in their classes this year!
