May: Church Stuff

Let's start with the cutest pictures from this whole post: Jack and Jaxen! Why take turns on Jaxen's awesome trike when you can just double team it??
We happened to be in the Swensons' backyard on a bit of a rainy Saturday evening for a Webelos Cub Scout activity - the boys needed to prepare an outdoor meal. So they roasted hot dogs and somehow talked Chuck into making the hamburgers and Carma re-established her friendship with Sassy! Good times all around.

Cub Scouts was kind of the name of the game in May. One Saturday morning found us out on a hike... aka walk... around Wilson's Pond:
and then we trekked across the street to check out the Nampa Fish Hatchery. Clyde found a shady spot to read, Jack admired the fishies with Daddy, Carma was... everywhere... and Will was ... nowhere? I'm guessing he was off with Brother Bishop actually learning about the hatchery ;).

May also brought us the pinnacle of Cub Scouting: the Pinewood Derby! Super fun evening:
Clyde got third place, wooo! We were thrilled to have a medal finisher in the family.

Quick shot of all the participants, including Will who was not as despondent as his face may suggest; he relates that he was trying out a 'cool smile'.
My boys! Will's car theme was 'outdoors' and Clyde's was his favorite colors, black and green.

I also got to don my scout shirt in May when we had a Court of Honor!
Brother Murphy semi-recently replaced Brother Dille as our Scout Committee Chairperson, and it's pretty fun to work with him again in scouting!

We left Ward Temple Night at the same time as the Corns, so we made them stop for a picture. We love the Corns. So much. And they love us. I'm one of Brother Corn's top two favorite Democrats hahahaha.

Aaaaand our traditional selfie, which actually turned out pretty great and had a starring role as my fb profile picture for quite some time!

The temple was closed for deep cleaning for two weeks in May, so Emily and I hit up the family history center instead! Because we're dorks. And we're legit okay with that ;).
Also a dork? Carma Junie! But a very cute one. Here she is studyin' some scriptures.

Random Sunday pictures! I have no idea why I photographed the four kids that day - maybe we were early to church? Maybe they were just cute? Also, Naomi and Raquel graduated from high school in May so we officially welcomed them to Relief Society!
All the Relief Society sisters get a little treat every Mother's Day, and the last couple years Chuck has been in charge of heading up the project. This year they passed out individual vegetable plants and Dove chocolates, mmmm. And I loved the quote that his beautiful, capable assistant found from Gordon B. Hinckley: "People wonder what we do for our women. I'll tell you what we do. We get out of their way and look with wonder at what they're accomplishing."

I'll tell you what, in May it reallllly started to hit that the Swensons would be moving the next month. Carma was thrilled this night to sit with 'Eeeeshup' and show him all her princesses haha.
And another random May evening when Bishop stopped by. One benefit of our ward's bishop also being a close friend of our family has been watching my kids be so comfortable talking to him and interacting with him and understanding his role - a safe person to talk to about questions and problems and repentance. I hope that understanding will stay with them as they get older and need guidance.
