General Conference weekend = nonstop fun (and spiritual enlightenment to boot!)

If it's General Conference weekend (which it was somewhat recently) it means it's time for a trip down to Utah to visit the Smith family, hooray!

This particular time we were able to take a little detour to Elko on our way to Utah to drop off Lee's car there - much thanks to Quinn for being our extra driver! We had a quick layover there - long enough for Clyde and Will to get some wiggles out and for Dave and Terri to treat us to dinner (thanks again!) and then it was back on the road.
Quinn and Chuck, unable to figure out Lee's CD player. I'd mock them, but I couldn't figure it out either...

We arrived safe and sound Friday night and the next morning jumped right in to Conference. I had challenged all of my Cub Scouts to watch as much as they could and take notes - so I figured I should do the same :).

As always, I resorted to handing Clyde the camera during various Conference sessions to a) keep him entertained and b) get super candid and funny angle-d shots. Here's a quick sampling:
Boys watching downstairs.

Will watching a movie, nicely framed by Clyde's fingers.

An attempt to get Reed, Gloria, and Grandma Pam; only Gloria made the cut!

That evening while the older gentlemen were at Priesthood session, the rest of us opted for a little nature walk.

Acorns!

Such cute nature walk-ers!

The walk may have been too much for this little lad... who was pushed the whole way :).

Clyde spent some quality time with Heidi trying to make the sign for her sorority. Turns out everyone DOES love a Kappa Delta girl!

I kid you not, the guys all walked in and went straight to this spot and lined up. So I indulged them and snapped a couple pictures.

We figured the girls should get a picture too! I love the 'mom bookends' :).

Aaaand Court and Heid and I stuck around for a few more pictures, naturally.

We attempted some of our infamous circle head pictures, to somewhat sub-par results. Our BFSC photogenic-ness was slightly off, even after changing photographers (the second of which nearly killed us).
Luckily when you combine the three of us, even our not-the-best pictures are still pretty amazing!

Saturday night we gathered round the Smith table for some Who What Where, and it was . . . well, epic. So epic that it deserves its own post, complete with pictures of actual drawings from the game and some hilarious direct quotes. Prepare yourselves.

Sunday brought more Conference, a few more naps, and more people!
Ben sweetly played with the little boys in the pit for a while so the rest of us could watch with fewer distractions.

Sam and Terri arrived between the morning and afternoon sessions and Will, despite having been around baby Bailey several times now, seemed to discover her anew.

He would get really close to her and then just giggle, or point in excitement. This kept startling Bailey into flailing her arms about, which would startle Will, causing him to back away quickly with a yelp. . . and then he'd slowly approach her again. It was a pretty hilarious cycle.

In preparation for Sunday dinner, the boys got the coals ready for some Dutch Oven action. They followed fire safety rules, which apparently required that four of them be out there with the fire.

Chuck, sweetly humoring my need to take many, many pictures.

Dinner out on the back patio - such good food (and company, of course!).
Reed and Bailey. Reed is honestly one of my favorite people ever.

Sam, Quinn, and Chuck hanging out after dinner and dessert - yummy cobbler!

Ben, Courtney, Bailey, Big Will, and Clyde

Big Will and Clyde cemented their friendship (dare I say best friendship?) over the weekend. Big Will played with Clyde pretty tirelessly and was rewarded with Clyde's go-to seal of approval: "Big Will, I like you." They also played a game called 'hide and come seek me' . . . Clyde often comes up with such 'original' games when we say no to the zillionth round of hide and seek :).

And just like that, Conference weekend was over. We packed up and headed to Orem to spend a couple of days with Sam and Terri (more on that later) and bid an always fond farewell to the hospitable Smith family. . .
after a couple more jumps into the Love Sac, of course!!

* P.S. A lot has been said/written/assumed/misunderstood about a particular General Conference talk, and while I have no interest in any kind of debate here, I would like to offer a link to an official statement on the matter released yesterday by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Oh yes, this post made me so happy. I can't wait for the who-what-where post! Hopefully everyone else will think we are as hilarious as we think we are!

Everytime I see these great long re-cap picture filled posts, I say to myself: I hope my ebff is putting them into blurb books for a family journal!
