Funny Will

Will turned two and a half this past week and continues to be an absolutely hilarious and darling presence in our lives. We often find ourselves pausing the TV to watch whatever he is doing right then.

A few weeks ago Clyde had a primary activity at the church. I decided to be ambitious and ride my bike with the boys in the bike trailer. Once we got there, the thought of riding all the way home and back just to pick Clyde up afterwards sounded less than appealing so Will and I opted to hang around outside the church for an hour an half. Will stayed occupied for a loooong time tossing rocks . . .

climbing on the handrail . . .

looking adorable . . .

climbing on the door . . .

and running around :).

All that running around did lead to a fall and scraped up knees, unfortunately. I dripped a little water on them and Will LOVED that. As long as there was a little stream of water hitting his knees, he giggled, eventually taking the water bottle from me and doing it himself :).

The other night we went outside to watch for a steam engine (that unfortunately ended up going through Nampa on a different set of train tracks) at the end of a light rain, so Chuck brought out the umbrella. Will latched onto it immediately, causing me to break out into a chorus of "Singin' in the Rain" . . . mostly because the chorus is all I know . . .

He was pretty good, waving and spinning it about.

Now for a classic example of Will's hilarity: Every Tuesday, a speech therapist named Alissa comes to our house to work with Will. This week it happened that Clyde was at Grandma Pam's and it was Chuck's day off so both of us were able to observe and participate. Alissa has a special song/activity that she does with Will called the Walking Song, where you all walk around in a circle describing your actions (walking, hop, running, stop, etc) to help Will learn and say verbs. Will really loves it. It was so funny this week, though, because every time Alissa (who was in front of Will) would stop and get him to try to say a word, he would position himself RIGHT behind her (like his little face next to her butt) and say, "Go!" We were seriously dying laughing. And then I sat down on the couch a couple of times because I was laughing so hard and Will would come over, take my hand, pull me up to standing and then run back over to resume his place behind Alissa. Oh, good times!!

On a more serious note, I do want to express my gratitude for everyone's kind words and confidence in Chuck's and my parenting abilities for our sweet autistic son. There have been times where I've felt at my wit's end (Will's hilarity ceases during his meltdowns) and the recollection of everyone else's faith in me restores my own and I can gently help Will - who just minutes later is cracking me up again!!

I'm proud of you for a plethora of reasons (wow-I love using that word!) but one of the main reasons is that you are such a wonderful mom. I'm truly and constantly impressed by how patient, fun, creative, did I say patient?, and loving you are. And my favorite thing about Chuck (right up there with him marrying you) is that he is such a fantastic dad. My adorable grandsons are lucky boys.

Love that little Wilbur. He looks like a little model in that picture with his armed loop through the bike rack. So cute.
